What is the Hazardous Area Classification in Oil and Gas Industry?

The standard for hazardous area classification is IEC 60079-10.

The Hazardous area classification is generally designed by Direct Approach Method.

Hazardous Area is defined by three major elements:

  1. The Type of Hazard
  2. The likelihood of the Hazard being present in flammable concentration
  3. The auto-ignition temperature of the hazardous material
