How to Design Instrumentation System in an Oil & Gas Industry?
Part-2
Instruments must be selected based on Hazardous Area classification drawings.
If the field instruments are suitable for installations
in the open air, ambient temperature 65°C; therefore, sun shade for the field
Instruments shall not be required.
The system and marshaling cabinets located in a
non-hazardous area must be ingress-protected to IP54 as defined in IEC 60529.
Separate marshaling and system cabinets should be designed for the Process control system and
ESD System.
All instruments must be certified as EEx’d IIA / IIB, T5,
ATEX approved.
The minimum degree of protection for Instruments &
enclosures in the field must be IP 65 as defined in IEC 60529.
All external surfaces must be suitably painted for
corrosion protection.
All field instruments must comply with (Zone -2) Class-I,
Div-2, Gr. C&D hazardous area classification.
Intrinsic Safety Barriers requirement to be analyzed
thoroughly based on the nature of the project.
