Flow Transmitter On Pipe with Orifice Plate (DP, Double Flow Transmitter, MultiVariable Type)

TYPICAL INSULATION FOR DP FLOW TRANSMITTER WITH ORIFICE PLATE

To assure accurate flow measurement, the impact of ambient environment needs to be minimized as possible. In order to do so, insulation of the tubing impulse line is a paramount subject to its application with respect to the process media. Given below are the three such instances wherein the appropriate method has been determined for insulation of impulse lines for a flow transmitter with an orifice plate.

Single DP flow meter across an orifice plate or two DP flow meters on an orifice plate or multivariable flow meter across the orifice plate have been provided below.

  1. Can we connect 2 DP type transmitter in 1 orifice plate point. The process line is Gaseous Oxygen and range for Tx is 0–127 mBar with flow conversion 0–85000 Nm3/hr.

    1. Yes, generally I have came across this practice to connect two DP transmitters to a single orifice plate in gas processing facilities. Prior doing this you should consider the Orifice plate sizing(It must be accurately sized to match the expected flow range (0-85000 Nm3/hr) and the pressure differential across the plate) and the pressure range of the transmitter(it should be capable enough to measure the DP).
